Kara's allowance is a benefit that is provided to people who are deserving in society. These individuals are typically looking after friends and family, some of whom may be terminally ill. The allowance aims to provide them with an income to assist with the expenses of caring for the individual. Given the challenges and other difficulties they face in their lives, being able to claim care as an allowance should be the least of their worries. The new service enables people to claim carer's allowance online, which is a faster and more straightforward process compared to using the paper form. We have been able to simplify the process by removing 170 questions, which is a 49 percent reduction. This was achieved by reevaluating how German policy was interpreted on the claim form, making sure customers can easily understand and provide the necessary information for a quick decision on their application. We have relied on user testing and research to streamline and cut back on unnecessary details, only including the essential information that customers need. Without years of research and prioritizing the voices of carers in our work, the service would not be operational. We have even received positive feedback from less confident users who found the process much better than anticipated and are now confident enough to navigate it on their own. This is important because carers are busy and often vulnerable individuals in society. By providing an easy method for claiming carer's allowance, we are fulfilling our purpose and supporting those who need it the most.
